Here is a good news story about how MS is dropping the ball on MSIE's standards compliance. They also tell how MS is just letting MSIE die on the vine.

Karl has finally redone his web site. You can check it out here. It's a nice design. He is using my journal code for the back end, and he is still tweaking things. So far so good.

Why is it so hard for people to pay their bills on time? I have problems with like five people that I have to hassle every month to pay their bill. I've changed my policy to; if your late your account gets turned off until you pay a $10 reinstatement fee. I've already started collecting late fees, but that does not work. They still pay late. So turning off access to their accounts will fix that right up.

It's official. This Cinema HD rules. I love it. Tons of space on the screen to work in.

Sunday we finished my dad's water system. We are getting the trench filled back in now.

Today was a busy day at work, not really anything to report.

I have come to the conclusion that I'm not going to buy any more software. I've been burned too many times. I think that just about every peace of software I've bought has been a disappointment.

What I'm talking about right now is Omniweb 4.5. I was using the beta version for a few months and it was looking like a really good package. It would render mostly correct and it has a ton of features.

But one big problem. They released their final code--version 4.5--and it is slow, crashes, and has a ton of UI problems. It's unusable. The version before the release were running a lot better. I can't believe that any company would release software like this.

Then on top of that, they have not released any fixes for it. I was told that they are working on 5.0 now. This is ridiculous. So I have a $30 peace of software that I'm not even using.

So there you go folks. No more software purchases.

There are exceptions. Mac OS X is real good. Photoshop Elements rules. NetNewsWire is great. But the other software that I bought sucks.

Twenty Three Inches of pure pixel ecstasy.
I wanted to get the ForMac 20" monitor. I got a price from the local shop in Reno for $999. It was suppose to be here today. I called them up and found out that they are on back order for another two or three weeks. Well, I went down to CompUSA and found the 23 in stock and ready to go. Well, I just could not resist it. It's sitting on my desk right now in all it's glory. It just might be too much screen. It's really really really big. The photo just doesn't do it justice. Click here for a screen shot.

My monitor is delayed until Friday. I'll drive in personally and pick it up then. I sure can't wait. I'll also need to buy an ADC to DVI connector. That kinda sucks. I'm also thinking about buying a VGA to ADC adapter so I can run both my monitors. Dual monitors would be kinda cool. I could put my email and chat on one and do my programming on the other.

I have a spot measured out and everything. It will just fit on top of my monitor stand. I wish I could have got the 23", but another $1000 for 3 more inches just isn't worth it. All well. This one will be big enough. I'll be back to my 1600x1200 resolution. That's the important thing. Welp, back to work. I've got a lot to do and not very much time to do it.

So I ordered the Formac Gallery 2010 for $999 from Mac-O-Rama. It should be here on Wednesday. I can't wait. Jane is going to pick it on her way back from school. Then I'll have 1600x1200 again.

I used to have a 21" monitor before I got my Mac. I could put my browser window on the right, my text editor window on the left and my command prompt on the bottom. It was a real nice layout for coding web sites. When I got my Mac it came with a 15" flat screen. I played with it for a few weeks and wanted to switch back to my old 21". When I connected the 21" I seen how much the colors were off and how blurry the screen was compared to the LCD. I just could not go back. I knew that the 21" was bad, but I didn't know that it was that bad. Anyway, I have been on the 15" for a year and a few months. It's really too small to work with. Not enough room on the screen.

Next is to get a new keyboard. My keyboard is getting really hard to type on. It's just wore out.

It's gone. My beautiful car is gone. It was loaded in a real nice toy hauler and signed over. By by car. Hello new monitor.

I cleaned up the engine on the Morris and filled the fluids. It cranked right over and ran like a champ. Gosh I love that car. I drove it around the back yard for a bit one last time. I'm really going to miss it. I wish that I had the money and time to put into that car, but I'm just not a car guy and I just don't have the desire to work on them. I just like to drive them. All well. 12 years of fun and good times.

By by little car.
