Today is the day that I install my new server cabinet. I can't wait. I'm getting ready for it already. At 5PM I'm going to take the servers offline and clean them. Then install them in the new rack. Right now I'm putting together a new email server. I wanted to install FreeBSD on it, but for some reason the network card is not working. It configures it, but it won't send data. I'm not sure if it's a bad card or bad drivers. So I'll just install Linux on it. Linux usually works.

It's installed. The new server cabinet that I've been waiting all week to install is now installed. It's much more quiet in here now. I think I can actually think. This is going to be real nice when I'm working and need to concentrate on stuff. This cabinet is cram packed with servers also. I couldn't fit them all in, and had to leave one on top. Well, one of them in there doesn't really need to be in there. I will take it out one day. Not sure when. It's just a test server. (The one with all the holes in it)

Anyway, it's time to rest and watch some TV.

I woke up today, looked out side and it is all white. The snow is here! Not a bad layer also. It is defiantly sticking. Still very cold out right now. I kinda like seeing the white stuff out there.

Well, winter is finally here.

Oh yeah. One more thing. I looked at my inbox and there is zero spam in it. The real time black holes are working out perfectly!

Spam is just off the hook lately. All the anti-spam sites are getting DOSed right now from a MS Windows Virus running around infecting people's computers. It's totally crazy. I can't report my spam because spamcop.net is totally hammered.

I did install some RBL's on my email server tonight. Spamhaus.org and Spamcop.net. This should block the spam before my email server has to process it. So far it's doing it's job really well.

Spam percentage is 60.800%

I've got my server cabinet. It's bigger than I remember, but it will work just fine. Now I have to schedule a good time to switch all my computers over. I want to blow them all out when I'm doing it, so I'll be down for about 5 hours or so. I can probably get most of the network back up within a few minutes, but it will take longer to get everything done. I'm going to have to rearrange my whole room while I do it. Moving stuff out, and new stuff in.

I'll take a photo when it's all done.

The wind is back. A bit earlier than last year. It's blowing everything around and shaking the house. Probably blowing some more shingles off the roof. I think that I've got the water cooler secured on the roof. I put the new cover on it to keep the wind out, but it's not doing much. They make them bigger than what it says on the package. A few inches bigger. It says because of shrinkage, but I don't know.

Tons of dirt blowing around out there. I expect another wreck at the end of the street. Happens every time the weather changes. It's a total white out over there right now.

The antenna tower is still holding up well. I'm going to have to check the pipers relay one of these days to make sure it's still pointing at me and hasn't moved.

Our roof isn't doing so hot. I was just up there stapling it back down. We are going to lose a whole section I'll bet by the end of the winter. Next year I'll be able to redo the whole thing. The neighbor that used to live here said they had the whole roof re-roofed a few years ago. I don't think so. Maybe just repaired or something, but not redone.

I revised the shoutbox on Barspin. Now it's totally live. Lets see how long it takes for people to start abusing it.

I was going to build a server cabinet out of my open racks, but my friend Paul has one that he can sell me for a good price. So now I won't have to build one. I'll get it Sunday. Sometime next week I'll install it. That is going to be a lot of work. I'll have to shutdown all my servers and pull them out of the rack, then put them in the cabinet. I guess I'll clean up my office also.

I picked up Jane's Christmas present today. It's under the tree right now. It a new _____. 8->

Now I need to get some things ordered for customers. I sold service to the neighbors today. They paid and are all ready to go. I just need to hook them up. I also sold another account today to a guy down the road. Seems like I'm up to 2.5 customers a week now.

Things are going well!

Thanks giving is all over with. It was a blast. Now it's time to get back to work. I had like 1000 emails today. I also had a bunch of calls about the internet going down. I'm not sure what happened but five customers were without internet for the holiday. They all had different problems. All but one came back on the day I got back home. I'm just chalking it up to sun flares or something. It's all I can think that happened. What is strange about it is that some customers were just fine and others could not get connected. Anyway, everything is running fine now.

Welp, back to work I go.
