Wow, that's a whole lota money.
Rob is a moron. He owns an Internet company and does not know anything about the internet. He fumbles around complaining that he can't keep up. He can't figure out why his employees don't do anything and turns into a raving idiot when things don't work. He complains about MS Windows daily, but won't switch to anything else. He complains about his ISP connection, but won't change to another provider.
The guy is straight up an idiot.
I installed the new Apple update and found out that Webcore has been updated as well. Now I can view tool tips in Safari like all other browsers do. I'm still looking for other fixes. Hopefully they have fixed the few alignment bugs that I've ran into.
What a morning already. Today my router motherboard died. I messed around trying to figure out why it would just lock up after about 10 minutes, then decided to replace it. I stole the MB out of my test web server and put it in the router to get it up quickly. It worked and now I'm back online. What really sucks about it is that I had my alarms configured on that server. When it died, I didn't get any alarms telling me that the network was down. Now I have alarms on all my web servers checking the router. ;-)
Update: It wasn't the motherboard. UHG. It was the hard drive again. Shesh...
Since I had to build a new web server to replace the one I stole the HDD out of, I decided to install FreeBSD on it. I've been wanting to do this for a while now. Now I get the chance to do it.
The main problem that I have with Debian Linux is the upgrading. Stable does not have the latest applications that I want to use. Testing/Unstable still doesn't have the latest packages. I want the latest PHP and Apache version. I know I can compile it myself and all that, but I don't have time to do the configuration. It's a lot of time compiling them every time there is an update.
Switch to BSD. The Ports system looks interesting. It has the latest packages, and you can install one application at a time. Not the apt-get upgrade everything and break things way.
So Free BSD's Install... It's terrible. I think I tried installing 10 times before I got to a bootable system. I was trying to install from floppy + FTP. It didn't work. When I finally got the floppies not to error on read, then the FTP would not download the files correctly.
Finally I use a CDROM image and installed from that. It worked well. A few problems, but mostly it worked. So now I have a bootable Free BSD system, lets see how it goes.
I was testing out Movable Type tonight to see how it works and all. The user interface (GUI) is really good. But there really isn't much difference than the weblog that I have here. It does about the same thing, but slower and more screens to wade through. So personally I'll keep my own journal code around.
I was told that the fonts on my Journal are "huge". What I did was not set a font size. This way the page will display the fonts in the size that your browser is set for. So if your browser is setup to display fonts as huge, then my web page will look huge.
What most web site developers do is set the font size to tiny. Most web site text is so small that I can hardly read it. So on my page I didn't set a font size. This give the control back to the end user that is viewing the page. They can set their browser to their preferred font size. This way it's easier for people that like to have a larger font, or have a higher resolution to read the page.
I know that most browsers have "increase / decrease' menu items, but that is just a pain in the butt for most people. I would have to increase the font for "Windows Developers" and Decrease it for "Web Standards Developers". I'm always going up and down with the fonts. Fortunately my browser has a minimum font size setting that I have set to 8PT. This way the "Windows" sites that have their font size set at 6PT is resized to a readable size font.
So, if the font size is too big for you, then you need to set it in your web browser.
Note to self.

It is dumping snow out right now. I guess this is going to be a snow year. Everything is white already. It's really cool. I kinda wanted it to snow this year. Now I get to drive around in it. I want to take my Samurai out to a parking lot somewhere and play around. See just how hard it is to get it to slide and stuff. I'm good at driving in the snow already, but I just want to see what the limits are so I can drive better.
Anyway, it's snowing... Makes me think of Christmas. :-)
