Dad and I went wheeling on Sunday and got lost. We went up in the hills behind us and just could not find a way out other than the way in. We would take a trail and it would dead end into a cliff or something. We finally found another way out, and ended up going across someone's property. It was fun though. Took us almost 8 hours.

Jane got a new desk and chair for work. It's a glass top desk with a spot to put the G5 tower that she will one day have. It also has a drawer and shelf on the other side. Her chair is the CEO model, real cushy. She really likes them.

Jane has been doing a great job on graphics too. Knocking the sites out left and right. The most recent is APusa. She did a nice job on it.

Today I get my gas line ditch dug. I'll finally be switching over to Pro-Gas. Hopefully this year doesn't kill me like last year. Gas just costs way too much. I need to figure out another way to keep the cost down. I'm thinking about investing in solar panels. If I keep the cost of electricity down, then the cost of gas won't be so bad. I could also do solar water heating too.

My next house will be totally solar powered from the get go. I'm going to invest a lot of money and hopefully it will keep the day to day cost low enough to get a return sooner than later.

I am still trying to get my new email server running. It's been almost three months. All I want is a email server (SMTP and POP3) that will authenticate from a Postgresql database. I got Postfix working right now, but I can't get a IMAP/POP3 server to work. I've tried Qpopper, IMAP-UW, and now I'm trying Cyrus. Why do things have to be so hard to setup!

I can't wait until I can afford an Apple Xserve.

Who would have thought... Jane is a master web designer. Best designs in the past four years. Jane is kicking major butt on the web site designs. Best thing about it is that she does them right the first time. The extra money is nice also.

So my dad is home finally. Now I have a wheeling partner to go up the hill with me. Woo hoo! We are going up the tower hill tomorrow. I'm going to put the sammy through it's paces. I'm thinking about going up that really crazy part, but maybe not. I think I will go exploring some of the other trails around that side of the hill.

Oh, do you guys like the new header? Photoshop rules!

This was just Mac Updates day. Omniweb 5.1 Beta was released today. I'm glad too. I was really missing tool tips and a few other HTML items.

Jane bought Photoshop for work also. Student discounts are great. Saved like $300 on it. Anyway, I'm sure glad to have Photoshop again. Elements was just missing too many things. Now it's time to do some changes to the header again. ;-)

Also, I'm deciding not to go with the Turbo Diesel engine swap on my next Samurai. I've been reading a bit about them tonight and it looks like a lot of money and time to do it. I think the 1.6L 16v EFI from a Tracker or SideKick would be much cheaper/easier. There is also problems with gearing and the diesel engines that I'm not liking. If I gear it down for off road, then I can't drive it on the highway without wearing out the engine. Also the diesel swap is like $2000 where the EFI is like $600. Big difference. I need that money for the coil suspension.

Click to view.Text Mate: The missing editor! It's finally out! I've been waiting for this editor for a very long time. I just downloaded it and so far I like it. It does not have all the features finished yet, but so far it has everything I need. Since it's Cocoa, it looks and feels really nice. I'm going to be using it for the next 20 days to evaluate it. After that, if I deem it fantastic, then I'm going to buy it. The price is certainly right at $40. A good editor is hard to come by. So far VIM and SubEthaEdit has been my favorite editors.

I hope that Text Mate gets group editing like SubEthaEdit. Then Text Mate would be the most perfect editor. ;-)

Click to view. The real presidential debates. While the George Bush and John Kerry campaigns are barely noticeable in Texas, the race for the highest office in the land will be focused on the state capital this week. The registered campus organizations of the Libertarian and Green parties at the University of Texas have sponsored a debate between presidential candidates Michael Badnarik of the Libertarian Party and David Cobb of the Green Party. Ralph Nader (independent/Reform Party), Michael Peroutka (Constitution Party), John Kerry (Democratic Party), and George W. Bush (Republican Party) were also invited to attend. Nader and Peroutka have both declined the invitation. No official word has been received from the Kerry or Bush campaigns. The debate will be held on the west mall of the University of Texas at Austin campus on Thursday Nov 7 at 11:30 AM. Ben Philpot of KUT radio will be the moderator. Badnarik is a resident Austin and was chosen as the Libertarian Party’s presidential nominee in a tightly contested convention on June 6. He will appear on the ballot in Texas and a total of 48 states and the District of Columbia.

Jane's birthday party was very nice. We went out to Chili's for lunch. I of course had the steak. We had like nine people there. It was fun. Then last night we all had root beer floats and watched Tank Girl. It was a fun night.

Just about everyone is gone now. Randy is still here. He and I might go wheeling today some time. Thinking about going up the mountain behind us for some action. He wants to test out his new tires on his truck. I should take him to rattle snake mountain to see how it does in the sand. :-)

Then tonight it's back to work for the rest of the week.

Msg:#895 of 1364Date:2004-10-01Subj:You guys might have remembered...

You guys might have remembered that I missed some taxes in 2001. Well, I've been paying them in payments for the past 9 months or so. I'm finally paying it off this week! The fees and interest were way way stupid. I should have put it on my credit card, and it would have been cheaper. It was about $50 a month. I would not recommend paying payments to the IRS. It's just bad. Next time this happens, I'm going to pay it with my credit card.

So now I'll be saving about $200 a month that can go to something else! wo wooo!
