HMO4CARS! The launch party was last night. Nobody showed up. I think about 5 people that are not part of CCS were there. I guess the invitations were not that good. I don't know. Anyway the product is great, we need to start selling it. The site will launch on the 1st.

I have not been on my bike in a while, so I went out today to ride. I was just going to ride to the BMX shop. On my way though the parking lot of Raley's I was doing a X-up manual, and wham! Over the handle bars. Skinned up my elbo. About 5 people laughed at me. So I get up, do a 180 and ride backwards for about 50 feet and ride off. (saving face...) So I get to the street and the cars are just packed in long lines stopped at the light. I'm riding down the sidewalk to the light to cross the street. I try a hang five...Wham! Over the handle bars. Skin up my other elbo and my hip. Arg! About 5 people laughing and yelling out their windows. Ha ha. So I do a barspin and a 360 pivit as I ride away. Geesh, no breakes this week. Earlier in the week I smacked my face and split open my chin skateboarding on the vert ramp. Yester day I dropped a peice of sheet metal on my foot, slicing it good.

I think I'm just going to stay inside for about a week.

I think that I have just entered genius level of PHP programming. I'll just say that Objects are your friend. I have created a base object that has a few properties and methods like "exists, load, save" and such. Then I extend the objects with some more properties for database objects. Now I have a HTML class that creates views, edit forms, lists of objects in the database, and more. I can just load a database object, edit it, display it, save it back to the database without any html commands. Its very very nice. HMO4Cars is going to be the first to use my new libs. They better be happy.. heh.

What a day today. I took a break from work and went to the skateboard park down the street. It was fun, dont get me wrong. I was skating the vert ramp, and that was fun. I'm starting to get less scared of it. I was doing some little mini grinds and when I went to pop back up to the deck, the board poped off the coping and hit me right in the chin. Whack! Now I have a split chin. I have a short beard going on because I have not shaved in a week or so. I had to shave that bit to patch it up. It was real fun picking the hairs out of it. Anyway, I have a band-aid on it now, so I'll be fine.

Much work to do on HMO right now, so I'm off to do that. Fun, fun...

Msg:#201 of 1364Date:2000-10-17Subj:Hello all! I went to that ska...

Hello all!

I went to that skateboard park today. It was cool! They have a perfect 12 foot vert ramp. I have not been on vert in like 10 years. It was a rush. I had to think twice about dropping in, but I got it. I didn't do any tricks though. I just dropped in and tried to do axel stalls. Its a long way down if you fall. It has about foot and a half to two feet of vert. I didn't bring my tape messure. Very cool ramp though. I'll be flying high soon. I did try to do a few airs, but I just knee slid out. Getting used to it. Also at the park is a mini-ramp that had way too much flat bottom on it. It was like 10 foot wide (very small). It sucked really, but was not that bad. We forgot the digicam, so no pictures this time. There was also a wedge ramp, two quarter pipes (not really a quarter though) setup for a transfer, a few rail grinds and a small wedge box. So if your a vert rider, then the park rocks, if not then don't go. Its 2 dollors to get in, and you have to buy a 2 dollor member ship.

Thats the update for today, I have about three weeks of work to do in the next few days, so I'm out of here!

Msg:#200 of 1364Date:2000-10-14Subj:I went to check out that skate...

I went to check out that skatepark near my house today. Its just a school with a small skate area. There is a narrow mini-ramp, and a nice looking vert ramp. The street area is lacking at most. I think that I will go ride it this week some time. That vert ramp looks cool.

Normalization is a nice thing. I have just finished normalizing a db for a client. I'm in the process of re-writing the code to query the db. Seems like I do a lot of re-writing of code.

Seems like I am getting burned out. I think that its not the coding, its the 17 hour days and not getting anywhere. Some times I wish that I took that other job, and not have to worrie about all this company crap. Yeah, I have a chance to make a bunch of money, but at what price. Will I be sane when I get the money? If the people I worked with were a bit more professional that would help out a ton. Its really hard to find good people, and its really hard to find good people that will work for almost free.

Well, I need to finished my code re-write. I need to start writing more, but all I do is work, and that is boring.

late

Msg:#199 of 1364Date:2000-10-09Subj:Jabber! Its all about the open...

Jabber! Its all about the open source chat client. I have installed Gabber, and its nice. No crashes yet... Server is still online. I like it. I can even setup my own server if I wanted. This is cool.

Webentory is almost there! Woo hooo. I'll be glad to finish it. I've done about 4klocs now. Its very complex. I've been doing 17 hour days on it. Trying to meet deadlines and stuff. I'm starting to get brain fry. Still looking for good developers for PHP to help out with our projects.

Which brings me to the subject of, WHERE ARE ALL THE PHP DEVELOPERS! I need a few good hackers to help out with my projects. All the PHP guys I've talked with are freelance consultants. Arg! We have a pile of money just under the surface, just need to get the ground broke.

I've installed the Aqua/OSX theme for E and I like it. They have the buttons in the right spot. Buttons should be on the left, not the right. When you use the mouse, its always on the left site already. Now they need to move the scroll bar over to the other side and it will be complete.

Animal Chin roxx0rz. That video is killer! I want to go out and skate now. Damm, it was different back then. Not like it is today. Skate to have fun. Now its skate to be an idiot. Blaa, [end rant]

The new system install is running great! Things are working much better now. I should do a system clean once a year anyway. Windows users get to do it once a month.. hehehe. Lets check uptimes:

databoost.com 3:35pm up 24 days, 17:04, 1 user, load average: 1.48, 0.90, 0.73

Reason for reboot: UPS died, power went out.

Barspin.com 3:37pm up 81 days, 17:33, 2 users, load average: 0.21, 0.05, 0.02

Reason for reboot: Ryan though the box crashed, it was his cable modem, not the system.

hmo4cars.com 3:40pm up 103 days, 3:22, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Reason for reboot: Never rebooted.

That was just to name a few (and to make history in my journal). This journal DB is cool because it records history. Later in life I can go back and read old entries and see what my life was like. Its cool.

Anyway, I need to get back to work, so I'm out of here.

Msg:#198 of 1364Date:2000-10-07Subj:Well, this weekend I reinstall...

Well, this weekend I reinstalled my workstation. I had something installed that was crashing me all the time. Prolly some alpha software that I installed to check out inturn installed a lib that was bad. Anyway, I needed to reinstall anyway, just to clean house. I go though a whole bunch of software. Who knows what was installed on my workstation.

I installed the new Potato 2.2 of GNU/Debian. The install was easy, as normal, but missed a few things. After I got everything installed, and started up X to set things backup on my desktop I ran into some problems. Netscape. Netscape just sucks. The fonts were totally thrashed. I messed with this for like 5 hours, trying to fix the fonts on netscape. Finally I removed all the fonts and the font servers, re-installed the fonts and the font servers, and things were better but not perfect. I really had to get back to work. I was using Galeon(mozilla) for a few hours doing work stuff, and then I started netscape (by mistake). Wow, netscape's fonts are fixed just out of the blue.... Sorta.

Well, after messing with this all day long (while doing real work) I have found that CCS (style sheets) were messing up the fonts. I turned off CCS in netscape and things are readable again. What a day.

My Animal Chin video is in at the bike shop. Steve called me and left a message on the machine. I forgot to go and pick it up. They are closed on Sun. so I'll have to wait till Mon. to get it. That sucks. I really wanted to get it yesterday. Its going to great to watch it again after all these years.

Well, I'm on RebBull, so I better not waste it here.

Msg:#197 of 1364Date:2000-10-03Subj:Webentory code base is up to 3...

Webentory code base is up to 3000 lines of code. Wow, 3kloc's. I've really put a lot of really good code into it also. Dynamicly configuring class libs. and objects. Its really good stuff. I've also been thinking about doing some C hacking for some of the internal stuff. That will be fun. I like C.

Today I went out skateboarding down the street. That was fun. I landed a kickflip up a curb to manual across about a 50 foot section of sidewalk, and got it on video! I was working on doing kickflip to nose manual and 180 ollie to fakey manual but I got tired. Skateboarding is fun. BMX is fun also. I went to the bike shop today but nobody wanted to ride. They are posers.

I started writing a Journal Class for my brother. I don't have time to really work on it, but I want to finish it. Maybe I'll put it up on Freshmeat.net when its done. foreach($object as $key=>$val) is cool. I've been using that a lot in my code.

There is a new skatepark close by now. It has a vert ramp and a mini. I want to go and check it out soon. I hear its 2 bux to ride, but that is worth it I think. It sounds good. Maybe tomorrow if I have time.

Well, I have to go finish some more forms for webentory.

Msg:#196 of 1364Date:2000-09-28Subj:It seems that all I do is work...

It seems that all I do is work. Work, work, work. I guess that just comes with owning a few companies. Hoping that it will pay off soon though. Things are getting close. Can't wait.

My journal is packed with work, well, non-personal info. I need to start writing more about personal things here. Well, not too personal.. heh.

I don't know if I really like Sacramento. Its really flat. The people are boring. Not much to do if your not into parties. I mean there is a lot of things to do, but nothing that I like. I've been sitting in my chair in front of my computer for the past 17 hours, and I still have a few more hours of work to do. Then I will sleep till about 10am and start all over again. Lets just say that my legs are feeling kinda wierd. Tomorrow, I will go outside an ride my bike a few hours. I really need to.

Sometimes I wish that I took that other job, back a few months ago. Things have not really changed since then. I was told that they would, but they have not. I wanted to have some money by now to get a new car, and pay off a few cards. Right now I'm starting to worrie about Christmas. I don't know if I'm going to have the money for it. Jane is really stressed out also, because of my work. Its really hard on us. We live from day to day, just enough money to pay the bills. Its very hard.

Soon though. My 15 hour days will be over, and I can live like a normal human again.

Msg:#195 of 1364Date:2000-09-28Subj:Yesterday was a blast! I took...

Yesterday was a blast! I took Jane to the Truckee skateboard park for her birthday. It was a great park. Everything was big and perfect. The skaters there was cool also. I got some video of a few guys and us riding the park. It was a good day.

Now I have to get back to work on things. v2 is almost done. I have only two more days to finish it. It is going to make lots of money. I can't wait.

Welp, nothing else to write about.
