Welp, I'm all moved into my new place. I just got my DSL setup yesterday. I'm all back online now.... But... Network Solutions. I can't change anything because my email address does not work because I have a new IP address and my DNS records are wrong. This kinda sucks. I guess its going to be the first time that I have ever called them for customer support. heh. I'm going to switch it all to register.com. They have a web admin system. Its nice. I have changed bmg50.com already with no problem at all. All well.

The new place is very quiet, and we sleep great here. It does not smell and it looks nice also. I like being able to ride my bike to work. I like riding. Its fun.

I have been very busy... Lots of stuff on my plate. Right now I'm trying to finish the plumbrite.com site and get that done with. Its been a long time since I was contracted to do that site, and I really need to get it done soon. I've worked on it all day sunday and ended up re-writing the whole backend database lib. It works much better now. I just got it working really. So now I'm doing the frontend.

I played around with strings today in #php. That was fun. Put some stuff on rtfm.

I've got to get ready for the big move out of this dumpy apartment and into the nice new apartment in Roseville, ca. Its going to be so much better there. I can't wait to get out of here. 15th is coming soon. I have to get new DSL setup, so all my servers will be offline soon for a few weeks maybe. But my servers will be much faster when I get the new DSL setup. 1mb both ways. I can't wait.

Uhg.. My head still hurts from the flu I got before Christmas. This thing just does not want to let go of me. I'm still taking Nyquil to sleep at night. This is the worse I've ever been sick. You can bet that next year I'm getting a flu shot early. Not only I got sick, but I got everyone at work sick also. That sucks.

I'm working at home today. Jane needed to use the car today. After we move on the 15th I'll be able to ride my bike to work. That will be nice. I like working at home, but I like working in the office also. Its nice working in an office. Today I would have had to wait for Jane to get back from the bay area, and that would have been like at 7pm or something.

Welp, back to work.

Christmas was GREAT!... Except for being sick for over a week straight. I got the flu on Wed, and I'm still messed up from it. Other than that, Christmas was awesome! I stayed in Auburn for the week with Jane's parents. We just chilled out and relaxed, well, I was dying, but the rest of them relaxed. I got lots of good stuff to play with. Jane got some good stuff also. Jane and I got her parents a DVD player, they really liked it. Tuesday, my father and brother hung out with us up on the hill. We went to the gun range and shot stuff up. It was really fun.

HMO is really pissing me off. Today they asked for the root password to transfer the server onto the new T1 line. I gave it to them, then right after that they changed it.

I then erased all my code and database off the system. I think that they were going to hi-jack my code.

The email me asking where the code and the database went. I asked them if they changed the password.

They changed it back and emailed me that the password was just fine and they did not change it. Funny thing is that they did and lied about it.

Welp, I'm sick. Its been almost two years since I was last sick. Now I just hit me. I knew it when I woke up this morning. Now my body is tingling and my head hurts. Uh.. I hate being sick.

Other than that, Nicheware is great! I am having a lot of fun working there. I re-installed the Oracle server the other day on Debian. That was fun. The install was not too bad. I still have to get the Perl DBI working on it though.

Perl... Perl is, well, Perl. I have not been playing with it as much as I wanted to, but soon I'll be doing some more with it. I'm going to have to parse txt files to extract data. That will be fun. I'm really good at getting data from weird sources.

I registered bmg50.com the other day. Gun sites are cool. I'm going to buy a bmg50 one day. That will be fun to shoot. That is an awsome gun. We are talking about shooting one mile away targets. That is some power.

First week at new job. Rating: 8 1/2. I'm very happy with it. Everything is going well. The Nicheware guys are really cool. The work environment is relaxed and geared for maximum productivity.

I started learning Perl, finally. I had to write a short program for the server, and I decided that it would be best to use Perl to do it. Nicheware even kicked in a nice Perl DBI book. (O'Reilly). Perl, what can I say about it. It gets the job done, but it sure is a hack. It really is a weird language. I dont know if I like it yet. I'm going to write a bunch of scripts on my server to do some things and I'll know then. Its better to use perl than PHP for non-web scripts though. I'm sure of that. Its a lot easier than C also, though I still want to learn GTK stuff.

I start my new job on monday. I get to work with MS Windows, and do some ASP/Active X stuff. My wife reminded me to "save and save often." The good news is that I will be getting paid. The bad news is that I will have to use an operating system that I can't stand. We'll see what happens. Its only one project anyway.

Its not that I dont like MicroSoft. I dont mind the company. I dont even dis-like Gates. I just really dont like using MS Windows. I dont like the fact that I have to save and save often. I dont like the fact that I have to reinstall the OS and all my software 6 times a year. If the OS was stable, then it would be a whole different story. But enough of that rant.

Looks like I'm going to have a nice Christmas after all. I will get to pay my rent, and even buy a few presents for people. Now I just need to figure out what they want. I really need to get my giftregistry going. I've started it, like all my other projects, but never finished it. I hope that I'll have a few hours a night to finish my home projects now. I started my gift registry last year. Almost a year and a half ago. I wanted it to be ready by now, but I've been really busy. I was going to register a URL for it, but they are all taken by squatters. I hate squatters.

I think that I have made up my mind tonight. I am going to get a job some place else. I can not stand working in dis-array and with un-organized people. I do not want to work like this any longer. I want to get a reliable paycheck, and I want to work with smart people. I am realizing that I am way too easy. People just use me. I feel like I've been taken advantage of for the last 2 maybe 3 years of my life. At this rate I will go crazy. I really hate stupid people.

I was told that I would be making good money by now, and I am not. I was told that things would get better and they have not. I'm not playing around here. This is my life. Not their's. I need to start looking out for number one. I'm sick of being the nice guy finishing last. This is my time to start living.

I just have one thing to say today.

Its time to stop being the nice guy and start getting paid.
