Uh.... I've been sick... Being sick sucks...
BMG50
Welcome to BMG50.com, caller.
Sysop: Rawg
I am totally getting sick of big companies and corporations lying to customers and taking advantage of people.
IE: AT&T.
I buy a cell phone. It includes, Call waiting, Voicemail, AT&T 2way text messaging, and Caller ID. The most important thing is the 2way text messaging. I need to have this feature because I killed my pager the other day. So I try to use it.
There is no way to send a text message to a phone other than their web site. No SNPP server.
Email.. HA their email server for the phones does not work. mobile.att.net.
I sent two email's from the phone to my account. That works. Ahh, but then when I get my bill, each email sent costs 10 cents. WTF is that all about?
The web site leads you to think that text messaging and email are free for 250, then 10 cents per email/text message after that. It also says that the email address for the phone is the phone number @ mobile.att.net.
What a rip off.
I'll just have to add that to my list of sucky corporations:
PacBell (Never use PacBell, even if you have to)
XO Communications (Just try to quit their service)
Reflex Communications (Who? Oh sorry, bankrupt)
Health Net PPO (They drop you every month by mistake)
AT&T (Can't get their act together)
This is the new world we live in. Lying, cheating, and stealing. You will say, "Oh, its always been like that." NOT. Not on the scale it is now.
Thats my 2cents worth.
I did it. Today I cleaned my system of MySQL. It has been apt-get removed. I no longer need it. I have recompiled my PHP and other apps without mysql support. PostgreSQL all the way baby! I had to convert a few databases over (kenoyer.com). I'm still working on my new MyPhotoAlbum.php. Its not going to use a database this time. Not need to really. I need to get it up for my Mom and sister to use.
Other things. Webentory is on the verge. I've got a few demos running now. I'm just cleaning up the last few bits and features. It works really good. We are going to start setting up dealers on it soon. I think that it would be best to do a all nighter switch over to the new system from the old system. Lots of things to figure out and go wrong. The new system works a lot better, faster, and easier. I dont think it will be too much trouble.
Back to the grind.
Its almost done. Webentory. The new way to do it all. Webentory is the best web inventory program on the net. It has it all. It will do it all. It is really a great thing. I've been working on it non-stop for about two months. Its really good. Its really really good.
I'm really glad to get something finished for a change. I was starting to worry about it. Nothing was getting finished at the other places I was working. I guess its true, "If you want to get something done, then you just have to do it yourself."
I will be finishing Webentory up at the end of the month. Then I will be thinking about moving. My lease is up in July, so I am going to have to start looking for a new place, or figure out how to pay for the place I'm in.
Nevada sure looks like it would be a nice place to live. I can get a bunch of land real cheap. I could build whatever I want on it. It does sound like a deal. I'm still thinking about it. I know that I will buy land there. I just dont know when I will move out there.
Thats about it for now. I'm out of here.
BMX yo! I've been riding a lot. I know this because of the large bump on my head and the danked knee I have now.
Last week: I was learning 180 tail whips off a speed bump in front of my house. I've almost got them. That and 180 fakey to 360. Well, I tail whipped and the bar hit me right in the knee. Dank! That took me out of action for about two days.
Yesterday: I was out in the local parking lot doing 180 fakey manual to 180 off on a manual pad. I did like six of them perfect. I was stoked on them. Then it happened. I went up to it. 180, missed, back wheel bounced off the curb, wham! I fell backwards, right to my back and head. Now I've got a large bumb on the back of my head. Ok.. Helmet time for now on. (duh)
Welp, I dont think that I'm going to be living in Roseville much longer. In about two months or so when my lease is up on my apartment, I'm thinking about moving to Nevada. Jane's parents have some land up there, and they are building a house on it. There is also some empty offices just down the street. I'm thinking I can put a t1 into one of the offices and run my company out of there. My dad wants to move up there also. He is going to sell his house and we can get a bunch of land with the money.
When I get to Nevada, I'm going to build a 50k Sq Foot skatepark!
Welp, I did it. I wrote my first database stored procedure. It allows me to select a provider by zip code and distance from my zip code. ie:
select locate_dealer(95661,5);
That will select the 5th closest provider from my zip 95661. I'm very happy with it. It works really fast as well. I'm going to have a ton of fun with it in the next few months.
Other news...
My lease is up on my apartment this summer in July. I think I'm just going to move to Nevada then. I'm sick of cali. You can't do anything in cali without getting a ticket from the cops or sued by the neighbors.
I'm out of this state! I'm going to build a skate park in my back yard when I move also!
Welp, its time for bed, so... late.
Well, I think that I've almost got my DNS working again. No longer am I going to be invisible to the net. Register.com called me for the 2nd time today to confirm my DNS changes. I hope that they get fixed up by tomorrow or so. That would be great.
Just remember. Never register a DNS server unless you really know what your doing. It worked for a long time, until I changed ISP's, then all hell broke loose. Make sure you never register your domain name as a nameserver. Do the ns1.domain.com.
Anyway, I've learned my lesson. I'm not going to do that one again.
Wow... This morning I re-installed my whole workstation. I removed anything that had anything to do with X. Then I installed XFree86 4 and Enlightenment. Cleaned out all that old cruft. It runs a lot faster now. I'm very happy with it. I did install the gnome-panel and a few othe gnome tools, but kept the gnome-session and gdm off. Lots more memory available now. Faster also.
So far X4 kicks ass. I've got the Truetype support installed and the anti-alias support installed. I've got to say that its really nice looking. Even Mozilla runs faster. It loads the fonts way faster. That old xfstt was just slow I guess.
So I only got about 3 hours sleep today. I'm really tired now. I think I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow its back to the AMC grind. I've got to get that system up and running by the end of the month.
Development on Webentory is going full ahead. Things are really coming out well. I have a lot left to do yet, but what is done is working really great. I'm working on the dealer inventory part right now. Its really going well. Lets just say, I love PHP sessions. It makes working with large tables easy. I can create a object or hash and save that in a session variable. Then I can break it up into smaller parts. I can work on each part on a different screen (wizard like). Then when I'm done working with the object, I can just save it back into the database.
I've upgraded to Postgres 7.1 the other day. Also found Apache has a new release, version 1.3.19. I installed (19) and wow! They fixed the mod_rewrite case problem. I still need to upgrade the databoost and webentory servers. Databoost really needs it. I think I'll get that up tonight.
Nothing else new to report. I'm out.
I am almost finished with the new admin system for automallcity's v2 project. Its really working well. I still have a few things that I need to add to it, and maybe a few GUI tweaks, but its on its way.
Next to finish is the dealer area, and the inventory system. I have to set it up to support more than one type of inventory. I also have to set it up so that the admin system will work no matter what type of inventory it is being used on. This is a challange, but I can program anything.
Jane redesigned her own website last night. It looks real cool. I just have one thing to say. CSS rocks. It makes it so easy for Web designers to work with dynamic data backend systems.
It just hit me the other day. Here is what I'm going to do. I'm going to sell off all my computers and get all Apple G4 systems. I'm going to get a G4 Cube for myself, and a PowerBook G4 Titanium for Jane. All with airport ethernet and OSX. I might have to go with a G4 dual processor system because I'm used to the speed of my Dual Xeon right now. I guess its all the memory that counts anyhow. Thats my plan.
