What a day yesterday. I drove to Modesto to install the new hard drive on Webentory. I got there at about 2pm and had the drive installed by 2:30. The system came right up and everything seemed to work. There were a few things that I had to fix up because I rearanged the file system, but other than that, it was working good. Last night I tied up the rest of the lose ends.

At about 4pm we had a meeting and got a few things worked out for the business stuff. Things look like they are on track to start making some more fundage in Feb.

I got out of there and back home at about 6 or 7pm. I found out that it costs me about $20 to drive round trim roseville to modesto. The truck runs really good, but it sure sucks the gas. Good thing is that gas is $1.17 right now.

Jane has been very busy at the house, getting it painted and ready for us to move in. She does such a good job. I just can't wait to get moved in.

-updated- Another thing just happened to me. I just found out that the new PHP 4.1.0 has been released. Then I just found out that its on my systems.. hahahah.. I didnt even know I installed it.

After the crash news updates:

First, we have a house in nevada. Its all ours. We even have a phone number.

Next, Webentory.com is alive. Its been up for about a week and its running really well. All the clients are happy with it. I have been fighting the bugs all week as well. I think I have most of them killed.

We are going to swap out the hard drive on the server because its having a write error. I dont trust it, so I'm getting rid of it. I should have this done tomorrow. I just wish I didn't have to drive so far to do it.

Jane is in Nevada again. I think they are painting the house this week. She is doing a really good job on it.

Next thing for me to do is call and get some kind of Internet going over there.

Well, thats all for me for now.

Welp, the database server crashed. I lost about a month of posts on my sites. Karl lost about the same. Sucks. I had to restore Webentory data from backups, but I did not have the kenoyer.com sites backed up. We lost data on thejane.com also. The hard disk drive on Webentory went bad and crashed the whole system. I have been very very busy getting all the data restored on the system. What sucks even more is that we just switched all the clients over to the new system. This makes things look very bad.

Anyway... when it rains it pours.

I'm going to drive over to Modesto where the server is and install a new hard drive this weekend... I hope.

Back from Nevada! The house is really cool. Its about twice the size I was thinking. 5 acres with not a lot of rocks. The dirt is good too, I can build some nice dirt jumps there. We have a lot of work to do on it. Its kinda a dump right now. We have to put an eight point foundation on it to get the financing. It needs to have the carpet removed. It needs a lot of cleaning. There may be a problem with the well flooding.

Nothing really bad. All can be fixed up.

The Plan. Live there until we can save up the money to build our own home. We dont know if we want to build on the same lot, but if we like the location after a year then we will.

No DSL in the area. I will look into getting a T1 into the home. That may be as high as $2k a month. I'll have to call Nevada Bell for that one. (another bell... damm)

This is really going to be an adventure. I can't wait.

Msg:#289 of 1364Date:2001-11-01Subj:Looks like Jane has found some...

Looks like Jane has found some land in Silver Springs. She is going to talk to the reality co. today about it. 5 acres with electricity, water, and phone. She said that its $55k and that she is trying for $50k. It has a single wide mobile home on it that we will live in until we build our house. Sounds really good. Only one problem... Not DSL in that area. I will have to use dial-up. That is going to suck. I will try to get a T1 later. It is only about 3 miles from the CO so I dont think it will be a problem. I can't wait to see it. I am going to try to get over there this weekend. Depends if I get my current work done or not.

Webentory! I'm finishing the last bits to get all the dealers online. I still have much work to do, but that will be after we switch all our clients onto the new system. It should be much faster as well. I can't wait!

Well, its time to, BMX!

Its Halloween. Jane and I first met on Halloween.

I called her to find out how it was going on the house hunting. She could not find anything good. All the places that she was looking for were crappy or cost more than we want to spend.

We have switched to Plan B: We will find some land with power, phone, and electricity on it. Then we will build our house on it. That way we can just get started on building our home. I dont want to mess around with trying to sell after we get our home built anyway.

I think I got all the bugs out of the email and web servers. After the move a few things broke. Mostly just email. I had a few problems with DNS and my EXIM configuration. I think its all good now.

L0st.net domain is running out. Karl does not want it anymore, so I've taken it off-line. I'm waiting for the whois to drop off so that I will quit getting the l0st.net bounced spam email. I guess I'll just put the email forwarder back in and have it go to /dev/null.

Things are going well with Webentory. Last night I re-wrote the whole inventory search system for global and local inventories. Its running really good now. I'm working on the new car system right now. Next is to port the rest of our clients over to the new system.

My personal goal is to have Webentory finished by Dec. 20th.

The search continues. We are looking for a house in the Silver Springs area of Nevada. Fallon has some nice places. We have to have DSL or some other type of high speed internet service. We have found a few places in the 90k range. We are still looking. Jane has been on the phone all day today getting things setup.

I have moved all my web sites to my off site server to get ready for the move. There may be a few things kinda flaky so keep an eye out. If you see anything funky, then drop me an email.

I have been really really busy lately, getting webentory ready for full scale production. I am moving all the client accounts and data over to the new system. Big job. Lots of little things that need to be tweaked. I will be very glad to get Webentory out the door. After 3 years, its getting kinda old. The new stuff is really cool, but I want to move on to other things.

Jane is looking for buyers right now. She wants to sell a few more paintings to help with her new car and the move. If you see anything you want, use the contact page.

Anyway, almost dinner time... I'm out...

We are back from Nevada. It was fun. We helped put up the trusses on the new house. Its looking real good. Only took us 4 hours to do it. We should have pictures online soon. It is really cool.

Jane and I have been looking for a place to live in the Silver Springs area. We need to find a place that has DSL so that I can continue my work. We have found a few houses and are also looking at maybe renting a place. We want to get up there and get our money saved up to buy a real home. We want to get something around 5-15 acres and build a home on it. A big home. A nice home. It would be great get something with a well and electricity.

In two years we should be fully setup out there!

Msg:#285 of 1364Date:2001-10-17Subj:I went into Citrus Heights yes...

I went into Citrus Heights yesterday to check out the BMX shops. I found out that my buddy Steve opened up his own shop there. Just Spinnin, its a BMX, Skateboard, DJ Gear, and clothing shop. Now I have a place to go to get BMX stuff again! Too bad its a 5 mile ride to the place.

Anyway, I setup a domain for him. www.justspinnin.com. I'm going to build it up into a nice web site for his store.

Anyway, I'm cracking on Webentory, trying to get used/new vehicle inventory done. I'm going to be out of here on Fri. night. Got to hang out up on the hill. The peace and quiet will do me well.

BMX!
