I took my dad to Hurtz to pick up his rental car. Its a Ford Focus. Kind of a sucky car. He drove it a few miles and then switched with me and I drove it the rest of the way home. It has cruise control, but thats about all I liked about it. Too cramped inside. I like the wide open kind of cars like my Mazda and my Chevrolet Truck. Anyway, he has a car for now while he waits to hear about his truck.

Well, we went to look at the truck yesterday. It was not as bad as I thought. It looks like it can be repaired. Thats what we are hoping for. So my dad will be at my house for a few more days until his truck gets settled.
I have the pad poured for my antenna tower. I'm still waiting for it to dry. I think it will take a week or maybe two before I can put my antenna tower on it. I want to make sure it does not break when I put things up. (I would post photo's of it, but our camera is out of town with Jane right now.)
Wow, bad news. My dad was involved in a traffic accident tonight. He is fine. While driving home on i88, a car coming around a corner side swiped his truck and totaled it. No more Truck. This really sucks.
Well, I have some of my tower built. I poured the concrete slab with the posts sticking out for the tower to attach to. I have the sections all put together. I have the mast setup with the antenna and lightning protector on it. I just need to put in a grounding rod and get some wire for it. I need to build the mount for the bottom of the mast to set in. Right now I'm waiting for the concrete to dry fully. Then I will put the tower up and plug everything in. I'm hoping in a few weeks I will have it online.
Wow!
Apple!
I just finished watching the Apple keynote at Mac World. All I have to say is, wow! Lots of new stuff. Tons of new stuff. You have got to check out the new Powerbooks. 17" screen! Bluetooth, 802.11g wireless, and Firewire 800! They have a ton of new software. Apple build a new web browser thats open source using Konqueror. Its very fast and very small. I'm using it right now (beta), but the jury is still out. It is fast and has lots of really cool things like spell check in text boxes.
Apple rules!
Lots of things to do this week. I need to repair my roof. Its starting to leak now. The wind blew off the shingles the other day. Now I need to put new ones up. Our water cooler is leaking also. That should only take a few hours to fix.
I have to get my tower all setup. I have almost all the stuff I need. I want to run the CAT5 in PVC to protect it, but I think I will have to wait on that. I have to get some CAT5 also. I should order it right away. Seems like its going to be a few weeks now before I get my tower setup. Keeps getting further out. I have to hurry up and get it up.
I installed a wireless card at the neighbors house the other day. It didn't work. Too many walls in the way. I am going to need a better antenna than the rubber duck. I might have to build one. All I need is a few more DBi on it. My PCMCIA card works good there. I'll figure out something.
Anyone know how to turn off the MS Windows Login in Win98? When I installed the PCI card it started coming up. I'll do a google search.
Petition to Microsoft to support PNG graphics in MSIE.
Everyone should sign this petition. By gaining the support of PNG's in MSIE, I can use really cool graphics on my web pages.
Another way to see the PNG's in their true form is to use Mozilla or Netscape 7.
I have a 50 foot tower now! Woohooo! Now I will be able to get a lot more places on the net. I can't wait to put it up. I am going to get started right away. I need to get some bolts, guide wire, 100feet of CAT5, a 15 foot section of pipe for the antenna mount, 3 foot section of 10" PVC pipe for the access point, 100 foot extention cord, heat tape, and some kind of base for it to bolt into at the bottom. I hope in a few weeks it will be up and online. Its going to be a big job, and I sure hope it will work. This is going to be so great!
So one day I was trying to think up some new domain names for my family. I go to BulkRegister.com and see that they offer .shop domain names. So I happily register art.shop, webdesign.shop, and quilt.shop. I'm thinking that these domain names will be great for business and my family.
Little did I know that it was a total SCAM. Nowhere on their site does it say that the domain names belong to new.net. No where on their site does it say that anyone wanting to access these names needs to install a plugin or have their IPS make a change to their systems. Not even in the fine print on their web site.
You have to actually click on the New.net Policy link at the bottom of the order form, then click on the links to new.net to actually see what the deal is with them.
BulkRegister isn't just a regular domain registrar. You have to pay a $50 membership fee, then you get to use the system. This is like paying for a membership at a golf club, then they recruit you into AmWay to steel your money.
Not only do they take your money and not tell you that the product your buying does not work. They also don't give refunds for the names. I'm out $60.
They say on their site that 174,661,619 million users worldwide can see the domain names. I have yet to find someone that can access my new domain names. This is totally ridiculous. They say this on the page titled, “Guarantee You Will Reach Your Market With These Distinctive, Easy-To-Remember Extensions!”
It's a scam, don't register any .shop domain names. In fact, steer away from Bulk Register. Use someone else for your domain names. I'll be transferring all mine away as they start to expire.
