Well, I finally broke down and did it. I installed a real blogging program. Not really that I like it, but I can use MarsEdit to write my blog entries now. That is much better.

I'm using Word Press for my blogging software. It's wrote in PHP so that's one plus, but it uses MySQL for the database and that's a minus. Why do OSS developers insist on using MySQL for everything. :-(

Anyway, I imported all my journals and I'll give this a try for a little while.

Msg:#972 of 1363Date:2005-03-07Subj:Ping has found a home.

Ping is having the time of her life. She isn't sick anymore, and she looks great! She went to the groomers and was cleaned, clipped, and even got treats for being such a good doggy.

I can't wait until the next time I get to play with her. Papa, don't forget to teach her how to fetch!

Dear Family, I'm so happy in my new home. I went to the Vet yesterday and had 2 shots, but I didn't even whimper. I didn't like the thermometer in the butt though. I didn't have a fever and they said my Pneumonia and urine infection were gone. I need to go back in a couple of weeks for more baby shots and I'll be just as brave. Click to view.I went to the groomer's today and she gave me this Hawaiian scarf because I was sooo... good and cute too. She cleaned my ears and cut my toenails. She covered my nose so I didn't get water in it. I think I will like going back again. She gives me treats!
Love, Ping
Msg:#971 of 1363Date:2005-03-07Subj:Sam, Nana, and Papa are trying again.

Sam, Nana, and Papa are going to try anyway. Hopefully Sam wasn't allergic to Ping, or not too badly allergic. I think it will work out OK. And if not, then Amanda will give it a try. If Amanda can't handle her, then we will get Ping back and try to sell her. Maybe we can get back our $800 investment in her...or whatever.

But I do kinda miss the little Pingster.

I guess I should get back to work now.

Msg:#970 of 1363Date:2005-03-07Subj:Sam's not allergic to Ping.

Good news. Ends up that Sam is not allergic to Ping. She was allergic to some soap that she was washing her hands with. So they now have a Pingster to take care of and stuff. That's great. I'm glad that Ping is going to get a good home.

Good news, good news.

Msg:#969 of 1363Date:2005-03-05Subj:More doggy stuff...

So Sam, Nana, and Papa wanted Ping, but Sam is allergic to her. :-( So they can't keep her. Jim is allergic to her too. So Jim and Kat can't keep her. But we think we have found a home for her. Amanda wants to give it a try. I hope it works out for Amanda. That would be great. Then we can still see Ping on the holidays and stuff. :-)

I didn't know that so many people are allergic to doggies. All well.

Msg:#968 of 1363Date:2005-03-05Subj:Welp, that's the end of that.

Jane is really allergic to Ping, so Ping had to go by by. No more dog. All gone. She is going to Sam's to live...maybe. Or back to Lisa's where we bought her.

So we packed all her stuff into the car today. Almost didn't fit it all. Amazing how much stuff you get for a dog.

I still have my bobble head dog for the trails...

Msg:#967 of 1363Date:2005-03-03Subj:BMG50 finally working good.

The new setup for my WIFI is working out great. Everyone has a public IP now. The firewall is blocking most bad things, but not enough to hinder usage. P2P has stopped. It's easy to turn people off, but still give them access to email and PayPal. Things are really running smooth.

So now I'm running M0n0wall in transparent Bridging Firewall mode. It's between the router and the wireless network. Then I have AP1 bridged to AP2 and AP3. I'm using parprouted to route the four subnets together for proxy ARP. I have DHCP handing out IP by MAC addresses only. I have iptables setup to block anything that I haven't assigned. I also have a script that can turn computers off when I need to.

A good example was the two computers that had viruses and the other computer using P2P. I was able to turn them off to keep the network safe. One computer had CoolWeb Search on it. It's almost impossible to remove, but lucky for us CW-Shredder is available. The other computer is going to be fixed when the repair guy gets there. For the P2P system, it's off right now until they get a handle on it. P2P is bad.

The batteries are running good. I haven't really tested them out besides pulling the plug a few times. I don't know what will happen when there is a power spike or brown out. I'm sure that things will just run fine. We will see soon enough... It's that time of year.

So, things are going good for the WISP finally...knock on wood.

Now I just have to get a handle on v4o.

Msg:#966 of 1363Date:2005-02-28Subj:I was very busy this weekend.

Click to view.I tore down my Samurai to get ready for the rebuild. The sun was out and it was a nice day, so I couldn't resist.

It only took maybe four hours to tear it down to a rolling chassis. Well, there wasn't much on it in the first place. I took the doors off, seats out, roll bar off, windshield off, front clip removed, pulled the engine out, and then pulled the body off. Not much to it.

We built a tent to put everything in, but last night the wind came and blew it down. I guess it's that time of year again. The windy season.

Click to view.Today Ping is going to the doctor for her checkup/shots. She is getting so big now!

Back to work...

Msg:#965 of 1363Date:2005-02-25Subj:It's sunny again!

The sun has finally started coming out. Even a bit of rain too. It's so nice to see the sun again. I can't wait for this summer. I get to build up my Sam-a-Thing. I'm going to start tearing into it this weekend to get ready for spring. I've got $2000 saved up for it already. I'm excited about it.

I've been working a lot this year. Heck, I didn't even sleep last night so I could get some network stuff going. Crazy days. But things are finally starting to level off. The internet stuff is working out well. The programming is going strong. And the house is coming together.

Oh, I received my Haulin' or Crawlin' II DVD a few days ago. I've got to tell you, it's awesome. I love it. It has a lot of great footage in it. They did a great job of putting it together also. I love the two sound options of no music or music.

I can't believe it's Friday already. Time has sure been flying by. I've been working so much that I don't have time to do anything else. At least I have the weekends to do stuff.

Oh, PS, WebCam is alive again.

Msg:#964 of 1363Date:2005-02-22Subj:Busy, busy, busy...

As you can tell, I've been very busy lately. Not much going into my journal.

Lets see... Last weekend we got the blue Samurai to turn over and almost start. It didn't have any gas in it. So I've got a full gas can now, but it's been raining out side. I don't like to go out in the rain.

Did a little wheeling on sunday. Seen some tweakers trying to pull a jeep out of the mud. "I used to do drugs, but not anymore. See how fat I am now..." Lame tweakers. They were trying to pull a Jeep out using a Bronco that had a small spare tire on the back, 8 foot of chain, and their transmission was going out because of the small tire. Dad and I got out of there quickly this time.

Work; It's been a lot better lately. I'm happy to be programming again and not building web sites. I really didn't like doing web sites. The new guy we hired is doing a great job at it. So I've been spending all my time writing new code and doing cool hacks. I'm learning a lot about the power of JavaScript.

Jane is doing a great job at work also. She is keeping busy with work and school. From what I hear, she is doing real good in school. All her teachers like her artwork. A lot of people like her artwork. She actually is really good at it. Check thejane.com out some time. I'll have to get her to put her latest stuff on it.

Anyway, I guess you can tell I don't have much to talk about since I'm just talking about work. 12 hour days will do that to ya. Well, time to get another Red Bull and get back to it.
